BERLIN ART WEEK 2020

SUCCESSION X THE REED

Teaming up with the new generation of contemporary digital artists, including Gabriel Massan, Harriet Davey, Jurek Górecki, Julia Parchimowicz (BAD JUJU), and Tabitha Swanson, I had the privilege of showcasing their art on Europe's largest curved indoor LED wall.

Collaborating closely with each artist, I curated their pieces to align with the overall theme of the event. The exhibition spanned three days, culminating in a memorable vernissage dinner.

Using Blender and TouchDesigner, I crafted the perfect shapes to bring their digital art to life on the expansive screen.

My primary focus throughout this project was directing and supporting the artists to ensure their work shown brightly without losing its essence or being overshadowed by the grand scale of the display.

It was crucial for me to maintain a balance where the art remained the focal point without distracting the guests with excessive lighting.

However, during the dinner, we wanted to incorporate a show element. We opted to use a camera to capture the color palette of the screen and create a dynamic light show that reacted to ambient noise, adding an engaging and immersive dimension to the event.

We aimed to create an immersive experience, so I collaborated with Harriet Davey to integrate an infrared camera. This allowed the mystical, alien-like figure she designed to interact with visitors, tracking their movements. However, due to lighting issues in the evening, the entire body of the figure couldn't follow accurately. As a solution, we decided to focus solely on the eyes, creating an eerie effect as they followed people passing by.
